Shanghai will welcome the 'Global Metaverse Conference'! Open up new tracks for digital development

To take the initiative in the technological transformation of the "metaverse" and enhance the national strategic scientific and technological strength; Help Shanghai seize the "urban brand" of the metaverse world and build a Shanghai science and technology innovation industry cluster. Under the leadership of the China Mobile Communications Federation, the "Global Metaverse Conference" will officially land in Shanghai from March 31 to April 1! As the first province and city in China to include the metaverse in the local 14th Five Year Plan, Shanghai attaches great importance to the emerging digital concept of metaverse.

At the end of 2021, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology issued the "14th Five Year Plan for the Development of Shanghai's Electronic Information Industry", which emphasized the need to strengthen the forward-looking research and development of the underlying core technology capabilities of the metaverse, promote the development of new terminals for deepening perception and interaction, and the construction of systematic virtual content, and explore industry applications. As an integrated body of cutting-edge digital technology, the metaverse is expected to be applied to various operational scenarios throughout society, which will be conducive to digital industrialization and industrial digitization, accelerate the overall digital transformation of the economy, achieve high-quality development of the digital economy, and open up a new space for the human digital world.

The rise of the metaverse is based on various intelligent digital technologies constantly making new breakthroughs and developments. The characteristics of its virtual real interaction will expand business scenarios from physical space to virtual space, providing broad possibilities for further deepening the transformation of the digital economy. Besides Shanghai, more and more local governments have begun to pay attention to the layout of the metaverse. The metaverse has become a key opportunity for China's digital economy to achieve a "lane change overtaking" and an important breakthrough in seizing the opportunity of market-oriented configuration reform of data elements.

This conference will heavily release the "Metaverse World Declaration V1.0" and "Metaverse Industry Plan V1.0". In the "Metaverse Industry Plan", the recruitment for the "Metaverse Global Open Source White Paper" and "Lingjing Cup - Metaverse Global Innovation Competition" has officially begun.

Market analysts pointed out that this conference, jointly hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Government and the China Mobile Communications Federation, is expected to have a significant impact on the metaverse industry, promote the construction of the metaverse industry chain, and drive the development of the metaverse industry.

The investment activities in the metaverse industry are very active

Recently, metaverse investment funds have been particularly active. On March 22nd, Qualcomm announced the establishment of the Snapdragon Metaverse Fund, with a total amount of up to $100 million, to invest in developers and enterprises of XR and related core AR and AI technologies.

Previously, the Beijing Urban Sub Center stated that it will rely on the Tongzhou Industrial Guidance Fund and adopt a "parent fund+direct investment" approach, in conjunction with social capital, to create a fund covering the metaverse industry, supporting metaverse startups and major projects and extending the support period to support the construction of the industrial ecosystem. At the same time, it is explicitly stated to support the establishment of a metaverse sub fund focused on early and long-term investments.
